Finn Askew, affectionately known as “Finn-Boy” to his mates, hails from the small coastal town of South West Rocks, NSW. Driven by ambition and a love for surf lifesaving, Finn made the bold move to the Gold Coast to chase his dream of becoming an Iron Series athlete.

In 2021, that dream became a reality when Finn swam, ran, and paddled his way into the prestigious Nutri-Grain Iron Series. Fast forward four years, and his relentless dedication has culminated in the ultimate achievement—Finn is now the 2024 World Ironman Champion.

But is that enough for Finn? Unlikely.

Under the mentorship of Zayne Hamill at Surfers Paradise SLSC, Finn has harnessed raw talent and unyielding effort to solidify his place as one of the sport’s brightest rising stars. Training alongside Ali Day, widely regarded as the GOAT of distance Iron Racing, Finn has thrived in an elite environment. Ali himself credits Finn for keeping him sharp across all facets of competition.

Max Purcell

Max Purcell, known as “Cep” to his fans and peers, has become a formidable force on both the ATP Singles and Doubles circuits. Breaking into the ATP singles Top 200 in 2021, Max climbed to a career-high No. 40 in October 2023. Purcell’s 2023 season brought him some of his biggest wins, including a stunning upset over World No. 7 Casper Ruud en route to the Cincinnati Masters quarterfinal. Known for his resilience, Purcell also made waves in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics by stepping in for Andy Murray and defeating No. 15 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first round.

In doubles, Purcell reached a career-high ranking of No. 8 in 2024. He captured the 2023 Wimbledon title alongside Matt Ebden, marking the first time an all-Aussie team took the men’s doubles title at Wimbledon since 2000. Most recently, Purcell secured the 2024 US Open doubles championship with fellow Aussie Jordan Thompson.

Off-Court

Away from the court, Max Purcell is a laid-back Aussie with a love for sports, coffee, a sense of humour, and a fierce loyalty to his country’s culture. He grew up playing on synthetic grass, which helped shape his love for grass courts—Wimbledon remains his favourite tournament. Purcell’s favourite shot? The slice backhand, of course.

Max also follows cricket passionately, rooting for the Australian National Team and admiring Pat Cummins. Off the court, you’ll find him cooking, catching up on Netflix, going to the gym, or hanging out with friends. His favourite food? Mexican, hands down. “It’s the best—don’t argue with me,” he jokes. Known for his sense of humour, Purcell laughs that this is his best quality.”

With his laid-back style and determined on-court performance, Max Purcell continues to build an impressive career in professional tennis while remaining a true Aussie through and through.

Originally from Ireland, Dave has developed a truly international coaching resume over the past 14 years, initially a skills coach with Munster Rugby and then Samoan National Teams before a 3 year stint in the Cayman Islands as a Coach with their national XV’s and V’s teams. Dave then moved to the USA where he has held Director of Rugby, Skills / Attack / Backs Coach and Head Coach roles within the US College system (UCLA), MLR (LA Giltini’s, Chicago Hounds) and National Teams (Men’s and Women’s Sevens). In 2025, Dave has been appointed Attack Coach for the San Diego Legion.

Rory Sloane

AFL

Sloane was drafted to Adelaide Crows in 2008 from TAC Cup side, Eastern Ranges, and has been a fan favourite ever since, winning his first Club Champion award in 2013. His second Club Champion Award, in 2016, came in a dominant year where he was also named All Australian vice-captain, AFLPA MVP runner-up, AFLCA Player of the Year runner-up, and finished fourth in the Brownlow with 24 votes.

The accolades continued to come for the selfless player in 2017, when he was voted AFLPA Most Courageous Player and received an All Australian nomination. Sloane had an injury-interrupted 2018 but gave fans plenty to cheer about when he signed a new five-year deal until 2023. In 2019, Sloane was appointed co-captain alongside Taylor Walker and produced an impressive campaign on the way to a second-place finish in the best and fairest. He then became sole captain of the Club in 2020 after Walker stepped down at the end of season 2019. Ahead of the 2023 AFL season, Sloane passed the captaincy to Jordan Dawson before announcing his retirement in 2024 due to an eye injury after an impressive 255 AFL games and 136 goals.
